Annual Meeting

Meet our nominees for the Board of Directors.

Deborah Althen

Why do you want to serve on the FTFCU Board of Directors?

I started my CU career here at FTFCU in 1984 as a teller. Over the years, I have held many positions, with a primary concentration in the accounting area and currently as the President/CEO. It brings me great joy when we can offer a product or service that will improve our members' financial literacy and their financial lives.

What qualifications and skills do you possess that could be beneficial should you be appointed?

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and I have attended many CU trainings including Financial Accounting, Compliance and ALM to name a few. I have been an employee of FTFCU on and off since 1984. During these years I have assisted and witnessed the credit union grow in many ways. From being a non-cash operation located in Bloomfield to moving to Franklin Ave and accepting cash. I have taken part or spear headed starting up programs over the years that have become favorites of our member-owners. Currently, I am the President/CEO. Staying on top of industry trends and to never stop learning is a belief of mine.

I believe in the credit union movement. I have a strong background as an activist in the credit union movement, labor movement, City of Hartford community and political service. I take great pride in the volunteer work that I do to help move our diverse communities forward.

What qualifications and skills do you possess that could be beneficial should you be appointed?

I have served as secretary, vice chair, and as chairperson of the Board of Directors of FTFCU at different times over the past 41 years. During this period, I have actively participated in all of our Board's planning and strategy sessions. I have also participated in numerous state, regional, and national credit union training conferences. Furthermore, I have studied numerous manuals, policy guides, and other related materials.

Corey Moses

Why do you want to serve on the FTFCU Board of Directors?

I feel that this would be a great opportunity to take an active part in our community being a member of the credit union as well. I also think it is an important part to make sure that we play the best roles that we can in protecting the interests of our shareholders and making appropriate fiduciary decisions that maximize profit for our members.

What qualifications and skills do you possess that could be beneficial should you be appointed?

When speaking of qualifications for the position, I currently serve as the First Vice President of Hartford Federation of Teachers. In my job I spent much of time making fiduciary decisions that increase the financial power of our members. Also keeping in mind many of our members are also a part of the Credit Union which gives me a keen perspective on the needs of the community and its members. Being both a teacher and an active member I believe this gives me the insight to continue in this role.
